BHON Track Bolts

BHON (Button Head Oval Neck) track bolts aka carriage bolts are the standard fastener for railroad rail joint connections. The oval neck seats in the rail joint's pre-drilled oval hole to prevent rotation while tightening. Available with heavy square nuts (larger diameters) or heavy hex nuts (smaller diameters).  Oval neck carriage bolts have the advantage of being easy to machine its mating hole versus a square head carriage bolt whose mating hole requires punching.  Square holes cause higher stress concentrations so try an oval neck carriage bolt instead.
